This book was written to quench the thirst of everyone across
America who wants to know what it’s like living in Compton. Or is it really that bad in Compton?
People from all walks of life are infatuated with Compton’s infamous reputation. Everywhere
that I have gone in the continental United States, I have been looked at in awe, feared and or
stereotyped because I grew up there. I have lived in Compton on and off throughout my life and am
currently 45 years old. I have been a gang member over half my life.
Living in and growing up in Compton isn’t as hard to us that grew up there as it would be to you,
if you unfortunately wandered through our neighborhood or foolishly came of your own free will.
We love our hoods. To some of us, the hood was all that we had. To me, after the age of sixteen,
my hood was my family.
Throughout this autobiography, you will learn about the gang violence, drugs and sometimes
vicious life style of a man who became a product of his environment. I’ll take you through my life,
the streets of Compton and the surrounding neighborhoods. I detail honestly and amusingly, the
trials and tribulations I experienced growing up in a gang infested culture. There have been
several books written about gang life, but none have detailed the life of a gang member from
the most feared city in America.
Some of the names and situations have been changed to protect
the innocent and the not so innocent. I’m from Compton. I am Compton’s Finest.
